Suzy and Brian loved the idea of injecting tonnes of their personality into their wedding invitations and having stationery that really said something about them as a couple.
They met in a bar where Suzy was working at the time and wanted to tell the story of how they met. We discussed lots of ideas including pub quizzes and board games as the actual wedding invitation – the couple were keen to have something with which they could interact with their guests and was symbolic of the bar where they met.
After a lot of brainstorming we came up with the idea of using beermats within the invitation. The beermats are used for the RSVP as well as hotel and travel information. I designed a folder for them to sit in with the main ceremony information and a map. The front of the folder tells the story of how they met, fell in love and got engaged in a flow diagram, complete with pictures!
I used navy and gold as the main colours, taking inspiration from a well known lager brand of all things! But subdued them in order to make the invitations look sophisticated. After the invitations were complete, I also designed a much simpler, but still matching, evening invite and later on down the line, an A1 printed table plan.
I think this project turned out really well, it was amazing to have the creative freedom to do something completely different and work with such a fun and lively couple as Brian and Suzy.
